If your employer doesn’t have workers’ compensation insurance, fortunately in the state of Wisconsin, we have what’s called the uninsured fund or the UEF. And that fund is available to individuals that get hurt when their employers do not have coverage or they do not have workers’ compensation insurance coverage.
00:00:24 – 00:00:52
So the way to do that is you actually connect with the Department of Workforce Development, who puts you in contact with the uninsured fund. They have a specific form that you would need to fill out, attaching, once again, medical support for your claim. And then you file that claim with the uninsured fund, at which point they will make a decision as to whether or not they’re going to accept or deny the claim.
00:00:52 – 00:01:07
If the claim is accepted, you will receive benefits from the fund. If it’s denied, you would file an application for hearing and ultimately either proceed to a hearing or settlement negotiations with the uninsured fund.
