In most instances where an injured worker has a worker’s compensation claim, I would recommend that they, at the very least, consult with a lawyer. There are smaller cases, um, or cases that don’t involve a lot of treatment where — and by that I mean medical treatment — where they can possibly be handled, uh, by the injured worker without the assistance of an attorney.
However, if it’s an instance where surgery is required, or there has been discussions with the insurance adjuster about an independent medical evaluation, or you’re starting to receive any sort of bills from your medical providers, it’s very important that you consult with an attorney. Even in the smallest cases, uh, I would still recommend that you make the call to someone. It’s not going to cost you anything, and, at the very least, you’ll get some valuable information, and so, you know, you know what you can pursue and what you cannot pursue.
